Still fondly known as "The Over 60's", the Howard Garden Social and Day Care Centre has served older folk in the local community for over fifty years.

The Centre is situated on the corner of Hillshott, next to the Bowling Green. It is run by an Executive Committee. A team of volunteers cook, serve refreshments, organise and supervise activities and chat to clients.

The Centre accepts Day Care referrals from Adult Care Services, local G.P.'s and family members - do get in touch if you know of someone who would benefit from using the centre

Day Care Services

The centre welcomes Day Care clients each morning until 2 p.m.

A hot lunch is served at a cost of Ł3.00 per head. (For more details of Lunches Click here)

Tea, coffee and toast are available on arrival at a small charge.

Transport is available for qualifying day care people

Activities

Activities provided include:

Bingo,

Chair based exercise,

Karaoke and other musical entertainments,

Cards,

Scrabble.

Lunches

Hot lunches are available each weekday at twelve noon at a cost of Ł3.00 per head.

Special diets can be catered for including Diabetics and Vegetarians.

Asian Cuisine is available every Tuesday.

All members are entitled to use the Lunch Service but should book one day in advance.

Please give one days notice for cancellation where possible.

Other Services

Chiropody

A chiropodist visits the Centre on a 6 weekly basis or is available for home visits with reduced rates for members

Haircutting

A Hairdresser will come into the Centre to cut hair when required.

Massage

We have a Practitioner in Reflexology and Massage Therapy who comes in each Monday and offers reduced rates for members

Putting Green

The Putting Green can be used by members in the summer for a small charge.

Bookings taken in advance - (moderate prices) on request.

Hearing Aid Service

This service is offered free of charge for maintenance of Hearing Aids and Batteries.

Hire Centre

The Centre is available for hire in the evenings and at weekends.

Prices.

Ł10.00 per hour - Regular users or charities

Ł11.00 per hour - In the week for one -off or business use

Ł12.00 per hour - At the Weekend for All users

Ł5.00 per hour extra for the use of the kitchen for all
